Red Christmas Lips

Red lipstick and Christmas go together like wrapping paper and sellotape, like cheese and port, like Santa and Rudolph, basically a red lip at Christmas is a given! For me it's the perfect festive makeup item and whether or not you've gone all out full on glam, or minimalist, a red lip is the perfect addition to any makeup look over Christmas. Luckily lipsticks come in all shapes and sizes and all variations of tones and finishes, so there’s a red out there for each of us! It just sometimes takes a little longer to find the one that’s perfect for you, it certainly took a while for me, but now I have three tried and tested, fail safe, utterly gorgeous red lipsticks that are gorgeous all year round, but most importantly for the festive season!
Chanel Rogue Coco Ultra Hydrating Lip Colour in 19 Gabrielle- £26

Chanel is so utterly classic so it’s a no brainer that they produce a beautifully classic red lipstick. As the name suggests, it’s very hydrating, super creamy and slightly glossy. It doesn’t have the most impressive lasting power, it’s definitely one to top up throughout the day, however the plus side is that no matter how many times you top up, you never have to worry about dry lips! Sadly, I don’t think this lipstick is available anymore, it was recently reformulated and renumbered to 444, same name and same true redness, but it’s missing that slight gold shimmer.

NARS Velvet Lip Pencil in Mysterious Red- £20

There’s nothing mysterious about this lipstick, its rich, it’s bold, it’s ever so matte, it’s a show stopper of a red. It’s unbelievably flattering and just divine. It last all day, and I mean all day! Through eating and drinking it stays strong, only every needing a slight touch up in the centre depending on how much you went to town on the Christmas buffet, but apart from that it stays perfectly in place all day. Despite it being utterly matte, it’s very comfortable to wear and only starts feeling a little dry around 8 hours of wear, but a little lip balm and a top up fix that instantly.

Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick in So Marilyn- £23

The name speaks for itself, a red lipstick named after Marilyn Monroe was never going to be anything short of beautiful. This is a glossy classic cool toned red with immense pigmentation, I find that I only need one application of this to get the fullest most glam colour payoff. Unlike most glossy lipsticks, the longevity of this product is really impressive, it wears off slightly through eating and drinking but not as much as I'd usually expect. Glossy, creamy. long-lasting and super pigmented...perfect!

Red lipsticks make me feel so festive and are the most perfect makeup item for Christmas time, I'd love to know what your favourite red lipstick is!
